On the heels of the one year anniversary of Crissi Cochrane’s 2010 album Darling, Darling, the Nova-Scotia-born singer-songwriter has announced plans for a new release – a six-song EP, Pretty Alright, slated for release in late fall 2011.
While the production of Darling, Darling, was a big-budget studio production, Crissi is taking advantage of her love for the do-it-yourself ethic and recording the EP intimately and affordably at her apartment in Windsor, with the help of friends.
“The cost of manufacturing is always hard to swallow,” says the independent artist. Crissi has launched a pre-order campaign to help raise the remaining funds for the manufacturing of the EP.
“I’m putting every penny from all of my shows, SOCAN cheques, merch sales, even my GST cheques towards making this CD,” says Crissi, who successfully raised $1800 through pre-orders in 2010 for the manufacture of Darling, Darling. “I’m always so touched when people show their support and pre-order. It’s so humbling to know that people are really anticipating the next album.”
For $20.00, those who pre-order will receive a copy of Pretty Alright mailed to their door before the official release, along with a one-of-a-kind mini painting by Crissi, and “a warm feeling inside”. Additional copies are only $10.00. Orders can be placed online.
Crissi will be holding a fundraiser show with special guest Kevin Echlin on Tuesday, September 20th at the Phog Lounge (157 University Avenue West). Admission is $5 and the show begins at 9:30 pm.
