A Tuesday night doesn’t usually get a crowd that last nights show at Phog Lounge brought in. The sound which originated from across the river could be heard by the opening band. Local band The Bad Mothers, a motown cover band, got the night started performing old favourites like Super Freak by Rick James to newer hits such as F You by Cee-Lo Green.
Afterwords, starting their set by marching in from the street with 5 horns led by MC Jacob Bergsma, My Son The Hurricane blew into Phog. The energetic band that describes themselves as a progressive hip-hop/brass/funk band got the crowd moving with their upbeat vibe. The energy could be felt throughout the audience with Bergsma often circling the room, even making his way to the back at one point, to get everyone up-front and centre.
The JUNO nominated D-Sisive kept the high-spirited atmosphere going, bringing the night to an end that made the beginning of the work week a lot more exciting.
