The Pasta House will soon be celebrating their 25th anniversary of creating authentic Italian cuisine.
The Erie Street business specializes in making fresh egg noodles. While they are not a restaurant, they do supply their product to many local restaurants. Their retail storefront is open to the public if you want to pick up freshly made pasta, lasagna, gnocchi, sauces and much more.
The store offers a wide range of freshly made frozen items such as ravioli, tortellini and agnolotti with a variety of sauces to go with them for a quick and easy meal.
They also have dinner trays in various quantities ready with lasagna (meat, four cheese or vegetable), penne dinners, manicotti and cannelloni dinners as well as specialty and seasonal items.
All of the food is made on-site using authentic Italian recipes and only the finest ingredients. All of their products are made with durum semolina flour and whole liquid eggs. No preservatives, artificial colours or additives are added to the products.
“Just like grandma did,” said owner Pina Simone. “That’s what makes us unique. It’s all made here and we make it from scratch.”
While they don’t make gluten free pastas they do carry high-end dry pasta from Italy which is gluten free, as well as gluten free breadcrumbs, cookies and crackers.
There are many other specialty products, such as high end olive oil, vinegar, pesto, honey, seasonings and other items shipped in directly from Europe.
At The Pasta House their main focus will always be the pasta.
“We’re trying to adopt even more different types of raviolis,” said Simone. “At Easter we introduced the Italian sausage and red pepper ravioli. We want to concentrate on making more specialty raviolis because that’s what customers were asking for. Next on our schedule is our pulled pork ravioli and roasted red pepper ravioli.”
Other raviolis available include beef, three cheese, lobster, wild mushroom, portobello and ricotta, and pumpkin. Their tortellini selections include beef, three cheese, three cheese and spinach, turkey, and tri-colour cheese. Gnocchi is available in classic potato, spinach or herb gnocchi or whole wheat. Their non-filled pastas include pastina, alphabet, shells, rotini and rigatoni.
Making a quick meal doesn’t have to be unhealthy. The Pasta House has several options to help customers get back to basics eating healthy, quality made products. Even the busiest families can enjoy a freshly made Italian meal at home with just a quick visit to The Pasta House.
The Pasta House is located at 465 Erie Street East and open Tuesday to Friday from 9:30am until 5:30pm and Saturdays from 9:30am until 4:40pm. You can also visit their website or Facebook page.
