Looking to indulge in some outstanding comfort food? The Original Tecumseh Roadhouse — located a short trip out of Windsor on County Road 42 before even Manning Road — has just the thing.
The Tecumseh Roadhouse is self-described as “Essex County’s answer to smoked BBQ and Southern Cooking” and hopes to “take comfort food to the next level”.
One of the most interesting things about the Tecumseh Roadhouse is their pickle bar, advertised on a big sign on the way in. You may literally go up at any time to the pickle bar for free pickles including regular, mild, spicy or for hot peppers.
When you first walk in, the Roadhouse has a daily specials board and House Rules such as “No Music Requests”, “No Cell Phone Use in Dining Rooms” and of course “Pickle Bar is FREE”.
The interior is all dressed up to be country, country and western plays over the PA, checkered patterns adorn tables and the inside has a small-town, down-south feel. If you love Windsor, the owners made sure to order special wallpaper featuring old photographs of Windsor and the area.
The Tecumseh Roadhouse features absolutely delicious comfort food from pulled pork to homemade burgers, chicken sandwiches, brisket-on-a-sandwich, cheese steak, and “Mac Daddies” — macaroni, cheese and more. Choose from sides such as roadhouse fries, chips, BBQ beans, coleslaw (creamy) or potato salad with bacon. Check out full menus here.

The Tecumseh Roadhouse has a selection of four signature sauces: Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce, Texas Sauce, Rootbeer BBQ Sauce, Kansas BBQ Sauce and Death by Mango (not pictured).
The Tecumseh Roadhouse is located at 10672 County Road 42 between Lauzon and Banwell, their phone number is (519) 739-0877 and you can find them online at tecumsehroadhouse.com.
