Nana’s Bakery has been making their fresh baked goods for the past sixteen years.
The cozy bakery also serves as a great place to eat lunch with friends, or to stop in for a quick take-out lunch. Their lunch menu offerings include omelettes, bagels, soups, and a variety of sandwiches, including egg salad, tuna salad, salmon salad, ham and cheese, grilled ham and cheese, and classic grilled cheese. They also have plenty of desserts and can do custom orders too.
Fat Tuesday, also known as Paczki Day, is a big event for Nana’s Bakery. Owner Doug Romanek begins planning in November, making sure he’ll have enough staff and ingredients to make hundreds of paczkis in one day.
“Last year we did over 200 dozen,” said Romanek. “We bake all day. When people come by at four o’clock in the afternoon, they have fresh ones right out of the oven.”
Nana’s Bakery offers something to paczki enthusiasts that is hard to find anywhere else in Windsor – their famous “lowzkis”, a paczki with half the calories as a regular paczki. You can pre-order your “lowzkis” for Fat Tuesday, which falls on March 4th this year. Walk-ins are welcome too.
Nana’s Bakery is located at 2936 Dominion Boulevard and can be contacted by calling 519-966-2434. They are open Tuesday – Friday from 6am – 6pm and Saturdays from 6am – 5pm (closed Sundays and Mondays).
