6th Annual CWATS Celebration and Glow Ride Set For Friday

The 6th Annual County Wide Active Transportation System Celebration takes place Friday starting at 3pm at the Essex County Civic Centre.

The free event will feature games and activities for all ages including a bike rodeo, road hockey, pickleball, disc golf, large lawn games, safe archery, a bouncy castle and more.

Representatives from Essex County’s local municipalities and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will be on hand to celebrate healthy and active living and the expanding trail network that links our communities.

There will also be free food and giveaways. Event participants will have the chance to win a new bike, Apple AirPod headphones, Swell water bottles, tote bags and more. Participants who pre-register on Eventbrite will receive a free T-Shirt.

The County is in the process of updating the CWATS Master Plan, which was developed in 2012, to incorporate best practices and the latest trends in active transportation. The consultant will host a pop-up Open House at the event to gather public input about the CWATS network.

The event will culminate at dusk with an all-ages walk and leisurely Glow Ride.   Participating cyclists will need to bring their own bikes and helmets and are encouraged to decorate their bikes before the event.
