Fiesta Latina returns to Downtown Windsor for one day only on Saturday, July 30th.
The free celebration of Latin American music, dance and culture takes place, 12:30pm to 9pm, on Maiden Lane West. Featuring rhythm, dance, children’s workshops and a myriad of youth activities, Fiesta Latina is expected to attract visitors from southwestern Ontario, Michigan and beyond.
Festival highlights include Veteran deejay Lexx will delight audiences with Brazilian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Cuban, Dominican and Colombian electronic dance music, Joel Ang will present an exhilarating, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness class, Beatriz Montes, considered one of the best Mariachi vocalists, will captivate audiences with her magical voice and repertoire of traditional Mexican music. Since winning Miami’s “Golden Voice” (La Voz de Oro) contest, Montes has performed solo and with world-renowned Mariachi bands including Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Mariachi Sol de Mexico, and Mariachi Cobre.
In addition Fiesta Latina features free maraca-, piñata- and headband making workshops for youth, and kiosks displaying the wares and celebrating the cultures of El Salvador, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and more.
