54 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 54 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday, bringing the local total to 13,891.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,837 on Tuesday March 30th to 13,891 on Wednesday March 31st and 329 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 20 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community acquired, and 27 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

The Health Unit says 70 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (1 more today).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 78,615 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+3,208 since yesterday)
    • 66,336 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+3,011 since yesterday)
    • 12,279 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+197 since yesterday)
  • A total of 90,894 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+3,405 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 13,159 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 16 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 403.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 14 hospitalizations today: 10 people in acute care (4 less today), and 4 people in the ICU (1 less today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
