Vancouver Police are continuing to investigate a fatal hit-and-run that took the life of a Windsor man.
Police say that 2:30am Sunday, two men were skateboarding in the area of Heather Street and West 54th Avenue when one of the men was hit by a northbound car in the 6900 block of Heather Street. The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping.
The skateboarder, who Friends have identified as Ryan Barron from Windsor, was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to a post by University of Windsor campus radio station CJAM “his contribution to the City’s Hardcore scene was unparalleled. He tirelessly booked and promoted countless shows, bringing in bands from all around the continent and sending them away with a love for our city and scene. There a very few heavier bands in Windsor from the last 10 years that don’t owe a debt to his dedication.”
Police say that the cause of the collision has yet to be determined, but the driver is encouraged to come forward and report his involvement.
