This Sunday, July 28th, Wyandotte Street East will see its first Balkan-style pig roast hosted by local bar-owner Boban Stojkovski. “This one is different,” he says, “because it’s for the youth.”
Stojkovski opened the neighbourhood sportsbar Bobcats last year just a few doors down from the Windsor Youth Centre (WYC). He said that he was quickly amazed at the number of homeless and at-risk youth who use the service – many of them on a daily basis. He was also surprised at how quickly he warmed up to them. So much so that now he wants to help.
Stojkovski and Bobcats, in conjunction with LionHeart Trucking, are throwing the one-of-a-kind event to raise funds for the WYC which is currently the only drop-in centre for homeless youth in Windsor/Essex. With live entertainment from Slippery Pic and a raffle, this is sure to be a party not to miss.
Bobcats is located at 1353 Wyandotte Street East between Hall and Moy. Doors open at 11am and food is served from 3pm to 8pm, with entertainment at noon.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
