Windsor firefighters battled a second floor blaze at an apartment building near Wyandotte and Pierre.

Firefighters arrived to find a plume of black smoke billowing from the buildings windows and the second floor of the building fully engulfed in heavy fire. Readers said they could see the smoke from both Tecumseh, and West Windsor.

The blaze was under control within minutes. Firefighters rescued three cats from the building.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there are no injuries. But damage is extensive.

Investigators say the fire started in a second story bedroom. A total of 7 people have been displaced by the fire.

The investigation is set to continue on Sunday, when a Ontario Fire Marshal investigator will be attending.
