The Catholic school board has broken ground at the site of a new elementary school in East Windsor.

The Board celebrated the upcoming construction of a new building for St. Bernard students with a ‘sod-turning’ event, Tuesday morning.

Board officials recently received confirmation from the Ministry of Education granting final approval for a land swap with the City of Windsor. The new school will be built on adjacent property.

The event brought together the school communities of St. Bernard and St. Jules, whose students will attend the new school when it opens.

Construction is anticipated to get underway soon.
