Waterspouts have been spotted over Lake Erie and Environment Canada issued a waterspout watch earlier today.

Several people reported seeing waterspouts on the lake this morning. Waterspouts, or funnel clouds over water, had been spawning from thunderstorms over the lake.

Waterspouts are weak, rotating columns of air over water that do not actually suck up water.

Boaters were advised to take precautions.

The waterspout watch ended at noon.
