On Wednesday, Tecumseh Mall was awarded a 2013 Maple Leaf Silver Award at the International Council of Shopping Center’s prestigious Canadian Shopping Centre Awards competition.

The award was presented for Tecumseh Mall’s ‘Tools for School’ campaign and was one of only four finalists from across Canada in the Cause Related Marketing category for centres sized 150,000 – 400,000 sq. ft.

The ‘Tools for School’ campaign is a three week donation drive held each August at Tecumseh Mall to collect school supplies for Windsor-Essex area students. In 2012 over $2,000 in school supplies was collected and nearly $3,000 was collected this past August. All of the donations are given to the Windsor Roseland Rotary’s ‘Pack for Success’ program which assists nearly 2,500 area K-12 students each year.

The ICSC Canadian Shopping Centre Awards recognize the industry’s best and brightest for outstanding achievements in marketing and property/retail design. “We are thrilled and very proud to be recognized by the ICSC,” said Debra McVeety, general manager of Tecumseh Mall.

“To receive a Maple Leaf Silver Award is an honour,” said Nancy Jarnevic, marketing coordinator of Tecumseh Mall, “and to be recognized for a program that gave back to our community’s youth in such a meaningful way makes the award very special.”
