Windsor’s Russian import draft pick, Alex Khokhlachev, is about to enter the top ten list of rookie point leaders in Spitfire club history.  The seventeen-year old’s first season in the OHL has lead him to produce 34 goals and 35 assists, a total of 79 points.  With three games coming up this weekend, including one at home tomorrow night vs Saginaw, it is likely he will enter this club of rookie point leaders before the regular season concludes.  Spitfires GM Warren Rychel commented that he has exceeded their expectations.

With the Spits currently trailing three points behind the Saginaw Spirit, they have a chance to win the division title only if they win their next three games, and the Spirit lose two out of three upcoming games. If the Spits only manage to win two games, Saginaw will have to botch all three upcoming games in order for Windsor to advance. This would give them a number two seed in the Conference rather than their current fourth place seed. The Spitfires final home game of the regular season is tomorrow night.

Here is the schedule for the remaining three games in the season:

Thursday March 17 – WFCU Center – Saginaw Spirit

Friday March18 – Essar Centre – Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario – Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Saturday March 19 – The Dow Event Center  Saginaw, Michigan –   Saginaw Spirit
