The Ride Don’t Hide community bike ride took over the Children’s Aid Society lot today with hundreds of people coming to participate. Many rides were available to be taken, from 100 km rides for experienced bicyclists to a 20km ride for beginners and families.

The Ride Don’t Hide event is hosted by and is in support of the Canadian Mental health Association, with the goal of raising not only funds but also awareness to break the stigma of mental health.

“Whether we struggle with mental illness ourselves or we know someone who does, or we just want to be a more understanding and well-informed individual – it is important to know how to recognize the signs and be able to talk about it,” Ashley Vodarek, a Team Assistant in Fund Development and Community Relations for the Canadian mental Health Association, said to the group of cyclists ready to show their support.

Rides are hosted in 35 different communities across 6 provinces to raise funds to go to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Windsor’s goal to raise $60, 000 was 90% of the way to being met when the rides started Sunday morning.
