Windsor and Essex County will be remaining in Red – Control under the province’s COVID-19 framework for at least the next week.

The province announced changes to several regions, just after noon on Friday, which include the end of stay-at-home orders for certain areas.

“Our government is taking a safe and cautious approach to returning to the Framework and due to our progress, all regions of the province will soon be out of the provincewide shutdown,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, in a news release. “Despite this positive step forward, a return to the Framework is not a return to normal.”

“As we continue vaccinating more Ontarians, it remains critical for everyone to continue to follow public health measures and stay home as much as possible to protect themselves, their loved ones and their communities,” she said.

The province says they are transitioning Toronto, Peel and North Bay Parry Sound District public health regions out of the stay-at-home shutdown and into levels of the framework.

Seven other public health regions are being moved to new levels.

The following regions are heading to these levels on Monday, March 8th, 2021 at 12:01am:

Grey-Lockdown

  • Toronto Public Health
  • Peel Public Health

Red-Control

  • North Bay Parry Sound District
  • Peterborough Public Health
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts
  • Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit

Orange-Restrict

  • Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit
  • Timiskaming Health Unit

Yellow-Protect

  • Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit
  • Renfrew County and District Health Unit

The province says all other regions, including Windsor-Essex, are remaining at their current levels.
