Local graphic design agency Spotvin recently began selling a pizza box as a Christmas gift — but not just an ordinary pizza box — a specially made Windsor/Detroit pizza box.

The idea, known as PlanC was created by Spotvin using their design skills and pride for their town. The gift includes a 100% Canadian made t-shirt featuring the Momentum Rose, Windsor Rose wrapping paper and two Windsor buttons. All gifts are packaged inside a two colour designed 12’’ Windsor pizza box by Spotvin, that has a hole in the back for it to be hung later on your wall.

The Momentum Rose was created by Spotvin to inspire pride in Windsor, which was once referred to as Rose City. Shane Potvin, Co-Owner of Spotvin said the shirts were needed for Windsor to have a trademark.

“Windsor didn’t have a symbol to represent it. There are other brands in like Detroit and Toronto, so that was kind of like the key goal, to create something that we could kind of simply represent and Windsorites could wear.”

Each box is $50, ten dollars of which will be donated to three local non profits, including Windsor Youth Centre, The Inn of Windsor and the Downtown Mission of Windsor Inc.

There are 250 box sets available, about 80 of which have already been sold. Around ten were sold outside of Windsor.

Potvin said they wanted to bring something new that Windsorites could keep.

“We didn’t wanna just do t-shirts again, we wanted to do something special and unique, something we hadn’t done. So we started tossing around the idea maybe not necessarily just Windsor, but focus on Windsor/Detroit. That’s where the YQG t-shirt kind of came in,” said Potvin. “I don’t even know where it came from, Windsor is known for its pizza so why not use a pizza box, which could also be hung on the wall.”
