The Greater Essex County District School Board and the Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers’ Federation have settled on a tentative local contract agreement.

“After several months of bargaining locally, under the new two-tiered system, we are happy to have a deal with our Board,” says OSSTF District 9 President Jeff Brosseau. “Although there were challenges with the new process, we were able to address the concerns of our members. It was productive local bargaining.”

A provincial agreement had been reached, and ratified previously which allows for the ratification of this local deal by all parties.

“We share a desire to help students succeed,” says Trustee Tom Kilpatrick. “The Board has deep respect for our employees and all their significant contributions. We are very happy to reach this agreement with our secondary teachers.”

Details of the tentative agreement are confidential until the ratification process is complete by the end of November.
