The United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County has announced the finalists for the 2014 I Believe in My Community Awards.

The awards are presented annually to local workplaces, unions and individuals for outstanding contributions to the community through United Way.

“The I Believe in My Community Awards Celebration is our way of recognizing people, workplaces and unions for their dedication to their local community,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO, United Way. “We’re so thankful to our everyday heroes for supporting the community through United Way. Together, we’re moving people from poverty to possibility, supporting kids and families, and building strong neighbourhoods across Windsor and Essex County.”

The Innovation Award recognizes a group or business that has supported their community through United Way by implementing a fun, creative, unique and engaging event/activity. Voting for the Innovation Award opens February 10th, and will run until February 18th. You can visit United Way’s Facebook page for details and vote for the award recipient.

Three special awards will be presented to Chrysler Canada, Unifor Local 200 and Gary Parent during the upcoming event, while new business and supporters of United Way, CS Wind Canada, Brookefield Renewable Energy and Leamington and Area Family Health Team will also be recognized for their support.
