Monday’s large blaze at Sandwich and Prince has been listed as accidental by investigators.

Crews were called to the U-shaped building around 9pm Monday and found smoke and fire coming from the building on their arrival.

Windsor Fire said the building was used to manufacture foam seats for the auto industry.

Employees working at the time discovered the fire and everyone escaped safely.

The Hazmat unit was also on scene in different parts of the area monitoring the air.

Workers at the factory told windsoriteDOTca that the building had a large quantity of highly flammable plastics and polymers in the production area — the part of the building that was first seen engulfed in flames.

The blaze caused $1.8 million in damage.

Windsor Fire has not given out further details into the cause of the blaze.
