Essex Councillor Morley Bowman will be honoured as a recipient of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s Long Standing Service Award at this fall’s Ontario West Municipal Conference.
Since 1987, Bowman has spent 26 years on Council, including three years as Deputy Reeve of the former Town of Essex (prior to amalgamation), and two years as Deputy Mayor (2001-2003). He’s been at the helm of the Essex Fun Fest Committee for 22 years and has been a member of Heritage Essex, the community group that spearheaded the restoration of the historic Essex Railway Station, for nearly as long.
“Councillor Bowman exemplifies the true meaning of public service. He has been helping to strengthen our community since 1987, showing long-term leadership on the Festival Committee and Heritage Essex along with extensive committee participation and community involvement.”
The Ontario West Municipal Conference will be held on Friday, November 15th in London.
