Windsor Police are attempting to identify a suspect believed to be responsible for two separate but similar robberies in the city’s west side.

On Monday, October 31, 2011, police were called  to a residence in the 900 block of Partington for a report of an attempted robbery.  Officers were told by a the 20 year old female that at 10:00 pm she had been walking southbound on Rankin  from Wyandotte West to visit her boyfriend at his home.  At this time, she observed a black male on a bicycle ride past her from behind and then stop up ahead of her.  The female immediately called her boyfriend as she had become nervous of the male on the bicycle.  She walked past this male but he said nothing to her.  The female continued walking south on Rankin then turned east onto Union. The female was still speaking with her boyfriend on the phone who had left his house and was walking toward her location.  The female then advised that the same black male rode up behind her on the bicycle and knocked her to the ground causing the victim to drop her purse.  The victim’s boyfriend could see the commotion from a distance away and began yelling at the suspect.  At this time, the suspect ran from the scene leaving his bike and the victim’s purse behind.  The victim did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the attack.

This past Sunday, November 13, 2011, just before 7:00 police were called to the 2000 block of Wyandotte West for a report of a robbery.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to 58 year old woman who advised that she had just picked up some take-out food from a restaurant in the 2000 block of Wyandotte and was walking toward her car where her husband was waiting for her.  As she left the restaurant, a black male on a bicycle rode up from behind her,  grabbed her purse off her shoulder and rode away southbound on Partington.   The victim ran to her car and informed her husband who chased after the suspect on foot for a short distance before losing him.  The victim was not physically injured as a result of the robbery.  The victim’s purse contained a quantity of cash, some jewelry and identification.

The suspect’s description in both robberies is very similar.  He is described as a black male, 20 years, 5’5″ – 5’8″ tall with a medium build wearing dark coloured clothing.

Anyone with any information regarding these incidents or the identity of the suspect is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
