As part of Mayworks 2011 Common Ground Art Gallery in Sandwich held the reception for its exhibit called Hell is Other People’s Money. The show features art by Stephen Surlin, Mike Ngo, Marcy Boles and Rachel Chause.

The exhibit focuses on the psychology of capitalism including complex human interaction and the issues of labor in society by using mediums such as sculpture and photography. The title and some of the artwork such as the waiting room installation are a reference to Jean-Paul Sartre and his famous quote “Hell is other people” from his play No Exit.

The reception was Wednesday at 7pm. and the show runs through May 18. Common Ground Art Gallery is located at 3277 Sandwich Street in Mackenzie Hall. The gallery is the first door on the right.

Hi! Thank you for covering such an important event! Great writing but I couldn’t help but notice in your description of yourself that your last sentence has a comma splice: “I believe Windsor has a lot of potential, there is no better way to show this than through photos and words”. To fix it you just need to add “and” OR a semicolon (;) in between “potential” and “there”. :)
