Two Fatal Crashes in Essex

A 60-year-old Amherstburg man perished in a motorcycle crash on County Road 50 near the community of Colchester in Essex around 1:45pm Sunday afternoon.

According to O.P.P. Sergeant Coulter, the man was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on County Road 50, approaching Lakecrest Road, when he lost control of the bike, skidded off the roadway, and crashed into a culvert. In the midst of the crash, he became airborne and collided  with a tree.

Emergency crews declared the man deceased upon arrival. County Road 50 was shut down between Wright Road and Lypps Beach Road for hours as O.P.P. traffic investigators conducted their investigation.

Traffic investigators laid down a row of small pylons to indicate the path the motorcycle took when it veered off the roadway, according to Sgt. Coulter. The path of pylons was approximately 100 meters in length.

The deceased has been identified as Louis Levack of Amherstburg.

A second fatal collision occurred in Essex around 4:30am on the 6th Concession near Smith Road. A Windsor man was driving a red Chrysler Intrepid along 6th Concession when he lost control of his vehicle, veered off the roadway and struck a cement culvert road bridge.

According to police, the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The deceased is 33-year-old Alexander Henderson of Windsor.
