The Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope kicks off their Christmas Kettle Campaign Kickoff this week.
The Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army’s largest public fundraising drive of the year and relies on the funds raised to feed, clothe, shelter, support and empower those in need in our Community throughout the year.
This year the fundraising goal is set at $350,000.
Last year, The Salvation Army in Windsor provided over 15,000 warm meals, 801 residents a warm place to sleep and secured permanent housing for 107 residents. They also supported 428 families with basic staples of food, clothing, and personal care items. 1266 children were provided with toys for the Christmas holiday. Children are provided with summer camping opportunities.
Beyond donating to the physical Christmas kettles donors are also encouraged to donate online by following the Kettle Campaign link at salvationarmywindsor.ca.
“It is our privilege to continue to serve the residents of Windsor for over 100 years. We are inviting the generous people of the greater Windsor region to help us help others by supporting our annual kettle campaign. All donations to our kettle stay locally to support The Salvation Army’s ongoing work in Windsor throughout the year. ” says Major Dan Pinksen, Executive Director at the Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope.
Last year there were over 200 volunteers that happily rang in Christmas with the Salvation Army as Bell Ringer volunteers. “We couldn’t have reached our goal without our amazing volunteer Army.” says Angela Belleau, Kettle Coordinator at the Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope.
“Volunteers are once again needed to help the vulnerable in our Community.” If you would like to assist by volunteering, you can contact Angela at 519-971-5878.
