Island Crescent in Lighthouse Cove is currently flooding and is expected to continue throughout the day today until early tomorrow.
Road closure signs are posted and the town warns that unnecessary through traffic on the road may result in further damages to private property from waves generated by vehicular traffic.
“The Ontario Provincial Police is working in conjunction with all Essex County municipalities to ensure the safety of its motorists in relation to recent flooding of area roadways. The inherent dangers this flooding presents as it relates to travelling roadways that are partially obstructed or completely covered in water continue to be an issue . The OPP ask that motorists not living in these affected areas, avoid them until water levels have subsided. For those who must navigate them as residents of these areas, you are asked to proceed slowly and with extreme caution. Each Essex County municipality has bylaws currently in place in relation to the adherence to these road closures and restrictions and the OPP will assist our municipalities in the adherence to them when necessary,” said Jim Root, Media Officer for the Essex County OPP.
