Stellantis, the parent company of FCA Canada, has announced they will not be eliminating the second shift at the Windsor Assembly Plant.
The company first announced the elimination of the shift on October 15th, 2021.
At the time, the company said the global automotive industry continues to face significant headwinds, such as the persisting semiconductor shortage and the extended effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which were the reasons to eliminate the shift.
Originally planned to be eliminated in the spring of 2021, the shift received extensions.
“We are happy to announce that we were just notified by Stellantis that they are rescinding the letter to eliminate the second shift,” Unifor Local 444 said Tuesday.
