The Greater Essex County District School Board is reporting COVID-19 cases at five more public schools in Windsor-Essex on Thursday.
The board is reporting:
- one additional case in a student at Belle River Public School on November 24th
- one additional case in a student at Essex District High School on November 24th
- one additional case in a student at Hermany Academy – Elementary on November 24th
- one case in a student at Malden Central Public School on November 24th
- one case in a student at Walkerville Collegiate Institute on November 24th
Note: With the public board there is sometimes a delay of several days between the confirmation of a case and the public reporting of that case.
Greater Essex County District School Board public relations officer Scott Scantlebury has said the board does not release information about the number of cohorts or students affected by the case.
The board sent letters to the Belle River Public school community, the Essex District school community, the Herman school community, the Malden Central school community, and the Walkerville Collegiate school community.
“We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual,” the letters state. “If you have not been contacted, you or your child (ren) have not been identified as close contacts. The WECHU is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who have an identified high-risk exposure with the confirmed case and will give directions to follow.
The board has reported 186 cases to date.
