The province of Ontario is changing COVID-19 assessment centres from walk-in to appointment only.
As of Sunday, October 4th, assessment centres across the province will discontinue walk-in testing so that the province’s lab network can “make significant progress in processing tests and to allow assessment centres the necessary time to reset, deep clean and ensure preparedness for the new appointment-based model.”
Beginning Tuesday, October 6th, all assessment centres in Ontario will be appointment-based only to provide “certainty to patients as to when they can receive a test during the cold winter months and allowing assessment centres to conduct enhanced screening.”
The province is also planning to increase COVID-19 test processing capacity to 50,000 tests per day by mid-October and 68,000 tests per day by mid-November.
