During the month of March we will be suspending all rabbit adoptions until after Easter. Instead we will be encouraging our adopt a plush campaign. Bunnies can live for up to 12 years, they need a special diet, they need to see an exotic vet and they need to be spayed or neutered.
They do not make good pets for children since they do not enjoy being held. They will scratch and bite when scared. They cannot live in a cage, they are easily litter trained and should be a part of the family as much as a cat or dog.
Rescue’s will be inundated with requests to take in Easter bunnies once people realize how much care is involved. Did you know they poop at least 300 times per day? They need to eat good quality hay several times a day to keep them healthy. They also need yearly vet check ups just like a cat and dog. Those cute baby bunnies that are only 4 weeks old in the pet store, will grow up and turn into a hormonal juvenile bunny. This is when people who have not done their research want to abandon them. The lucky unwanted bunnies will be surrendered to rescues, many others will be released into the wild. Domestic rabbits cannot live outside on their own. They depend on you for food, shelter and care.
Through our adopt a plush campaign we offer a plush bunny which is much easier to care for than a live bunny. Your plush bunny will come with an adoption certificate, a rabbit fact sheet and a thank you card from one of our sanctuary rescues. We have two sizes available large for $10 and small for $5 with all proceeds going to the rescue to help us continue our mission to help rabbits in need.
We will be at Pet Valu St Clair Beach 13596 Tecumseh Road East on Saturday March 12th from 11 am until 3 pm. We will have our adopt a plush, as well as our rabbit and guinea pig themed jewelry for sale. Perfect gifts for Easter! This year help to save a life of a rabbit in need and adopt a plush bunny instead!!
