Windsor Paramedic Dies After Canoe Capsizes

OPP are investigating after a Windsor man died when his canoe capsized.
Grey County OPP say that emergency crews were called to Walker Lake located on Veterans Road South in the Township of Chatsworth just after 5:30pm Thursday.
Mahmoud Ghannam, age 49, of Windsor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say he was not wearing a life jacket when he recovered from the lake.
A post mortem examination is to be scheduled.
It was revealed that Ghannam was a paramedic with Essex-Windsor EMS.
“Mahmoud was a proud member of Essex Windsor EMS and was a paramedic who eagerly came to work each day, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to providing exemplary and compassionate care to all he treated and served. Mahmoud touched the lives of all he came in contact with and his loss is a tremendous blow to our service,” said Bruce Krauter, Chief of the Essex Windsor EMS.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
