The WFCU Centre has been nominated for the Air Canada Centre Major Facility of the Year Award at Canadian Music Week. Along with two other Global Spectrum managed facilities, the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre and the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, the WFCU Centre was nominated in the under 8,000 seat facility category.

The Canadian Music & Industry Awards night is the highlight of the Canadian Music Week calendar as the highest achievers in broadcast, live touring, retail and the recording industry are honoured. This marks the first time that the WFCU Centre has been nominated in this category at Canadian Music Week.

“Our team at the WFCU Centre is honoured to be nominated for such a prestigious award for the first time at the Canadian Music Awards” commented Jason Toner, General Manager of Events. “We are happy to be nominated with some other great Global Spectrum facilities and recognized on a national stage after hosting so many successful events in the past year. This nomination highlights our team’s hard work and some of the high-level performances we’ve had here at the WFCU Centre as well as those which we will host in the future.”

The awards will be handed out at Kool Haus in Toronto on Thursday, March 21st at the industry awards event during the jam packed Canadian Music Week festival which spans from Tuesday, March 19 through Sunday, March 24.

Other nominees from across the country include: the Brandt Centre (Regina), CN Centre (Prince George), Consolidated Credit Union Place (Summerside), Harbour Station (Saint John, NB), the K-Rock Centre (Kingston) and the Moncton Coliseum.
