LaSalle firefighters were on the scene of a marsh fire just west of Turkey Creek Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters got the call around 2pm and had a boat in the water and transported eight firefighters to the island to fight the fire.
Smoke could be seen as far as South Windsor.
The fire was knocked down around 3:30pm.
