An iconic and hard-to-miss highrise in Downtown Windsor is being recommended as an addition to Windsor’s Municipal Heritage Registry.
The Metropolitan Guaranty Trust Building at the corner of Victoria and University Avenue West was built around 1928 and is a ten-storey light-coloured brick structure with “Art Deco details”.
As a result of being placed on the Heritage Register, property owners looking to demolish must give the City of Windsor sixty days notice and have demolition approved by City Council so as to protect these historic structures.
