First Ever Drive-Thru Pet Microchip Clinic Planned For Saturday

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society will host its first ever Drive-Thru Pet Microchip on Saturday, July 10th.

This socially distanced event will allow dog, cat, or rabbit owners to protect their pet with lifetime identification without leaving their vehicles. The clinic will be held at Devonshire Mall in the former Sears parking lot. Vehicles will be received on a first come, first served basis, with no appointment necessary.

This will be the Humane Society’s first ever choose your own price microchip clinic.
A microchip is a small electronic chip that is implanted just under the skin of your pet. It is approximately the size of a grain of rice and contains a unique identification number. The implantation procedure is simple and quick (only a few seconds) and does not require any sedation.

The benefits of pet microchip identification include:

•  Unlike a collar and tags that can fall off or be stolen, microchips are a permanent source of identification that can settle ownership disputes and help pets reunite with their true owners.
• Lost pets with a microchip are significantly more likely to be reunited with their owner(s)
• Microchips save lives. In an emergency situation, owners can be contacted right away.

The first 250 attendees in each time block will also receive a book of coupons from Ren’s Pets as well as updates about upcoming WECHS events like the Doggy Bag Delivery and the new Golf Tournament as well as information on becoming a monthly donor and the importance of legacy donations.

The microchip clinic runs from 10am to noon, and then from 2 to 4pm.
