5 New Deaths, 31 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Saturday, bringing the local total to 12,040.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,009 on Friday January 29th to 12,040 on Saturday January 30th and 604 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 5 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 10 cases are outbreak-related, 6 cases are community acquired, and 10 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 11,120 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 143 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There have been five new deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 316.

The Health Unit says:

• 3 are from the community
  • Two women and a man in their 70s
• 2 are from long-term care and retirement homes
  • A woman in her 60s
  • A man in his 80s

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 72 hospitalizations today: 63 people in acute care (10 less today), and 9 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
