Transit Windsor has released their proposed new route system as part of the service delivery review that is currently underway.

Under the proposed plan, the city is broken down into five route types.  Primary routes are made up of grid routes on north/south and east/west arterial roads as well as highway routes on E.C. Row.  Secondary routes then fill in the gaps between primary routes and connect to transit terminals.

Local feeder routes connect residential and employment areas with local transit terminals, and inter-regional routes will connect adjacent communities to Transit Windsor such as the existing Tunnel Bus, LaSalle, and Leamington services.

Finally, alternative service delivery routes provide on-demand service for low-density and emerging development areas.

The plan also calls for a route to the proposed new hospital location.

The plan will see 124 buses on the roads for peak service, up from the current 84 with a total fleet of 162 buses.  This includes 60 foot buses and standard 40 foot and 30 foot buses.  Consideration will also be given for smaller vehicles for alternative service delivery routes.

The recommendation also calls for Transit Windsor to develop a new brand that shows a more significant shift to signal a bigger (and positive) change to the service.

You can view a digital map of all the new routes here.  The entire service review can be found online here.
