This Saturday, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex will hold the official dedication of its Spring Windsor Build Project to the Abujabal Family.
This is the 56th Habitat home built in Windsor-Essex County since the organization affiliated in Windsor 20 years ago.
“This build has been a busy and exciting time for this family” says Mary Margaret Parent, Board Chair, HFHWE. “A new home is exciting for any family, but when a home is built with outpouring of support that Habitat receives from our community – it makes it that much more special, as it is now a home built with love” Parent adds. With the help of the City of Windsor, Corporate Sponsors, Teams and countless volunteers, this project is now drawing to a close. “Saturday will be a very happy day for the Abujabal Family.”
The Abujabal family’s new home is 2,100 square feet of finished living space. It is a brick and vinyl raised ranch with six bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The Abujabal family Mohamed and Ghada along with their kids, 20 year old Moamir, 18 year old Mahmoud, 16 year old Abdullah, 7 year old Mariam and Asmaa who is ten months are eager to move into the home, as soon as their interest-free mortgage is finalized, and they close on the deal at the end of the month. “We are all so pleased to get the Abujabal Family into their new home – it has been a long process for them, but it is nice to see them so excited to get the keys to their new home” states Mike Van der Vlist, Executive Director, HFHWE. “We are very excited to get this family into their new home and starting their new life in their beautiful, safe new neighbourhood.”
The Dedication ceremony will include messages of support and appreciation from sponsors as well as a key ceremony which starts at 11am. Sponsors, friends, family, neighbours and supporters are all welcome to attend and are welcome to tour the home after the ceremony.
The home is located at 1215 Armanda Road the corner of Matchette.
