Amherstburg’s annual Christmas light celebration, River Lights, kicks off this Saturday.
The evening starts with the classic holiday movie ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ with free hot chocolate and tasty cookies at 5:30pm.
The traditional countdown to the municipal tree lighting with the mayor kicks off at 6:00pm. The Provincial Marine reenactment group fires off the cannon, and a fireworks show lights up over the Detroit River at 6:20pm.
Throughout this Christmas season, you can get into the festive spirit by taking a stroll through over 100 lighted displays in the town’s two main parks. Toddy Jones Park features whimsical, playful displays for the kids and the kid at heart to enjoy. Along the Detroit River, visit the King’s Navy Yard Park. You will see traditional displays that showcase the warm-hearted feel of the season with carolers, angels, soldiers and more.
