Rick Malott has been hired as the LaSalle Fire Services Deputy Fire Chief effective March 15th, 2021.

“I am distinctly honoured and humbled to begin this opportunity to work with LaSalle Fire Service. LaSalle is a progressive and professional organization with fantastic staff and proven leadership. I look forward to serving the department and community with the highest level of integrity and commitment for many years to come,” said Deputy Chief Malott.

Malott comes from the Essex Fire and Rescue Services, and has been their Deputy Fire Chief since May 2014. He started his career with Essex Fire and Rescue Services in 2008 moving through the ranks of firefighter, Captain, District Chief, Assistant Deputy Chief and Deputy Chief.

The changes in staffing at the LaSalle Fire Service come as Fire Chief Dave Sutton retires in April with over 35 years of dedication to the fire service. Current Deputy Fire Chief, Ed Thiessen, will assume the role of Fire Chief upon Chief Sutton’s retirement.
