A fire in the 3400 block of Wells is under investigation.
Fire crews were called to the unit of a townhouse complex just after 4am and heavy fire conditions on arrival.
It took just over an hour for firefighters to knock the fire down.
The family of five made it out safe, and there were no reported injuries.
Investigators say the fire was caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials.
Damage is set at $100,000.
