Windsor Firefighters battled a fire at 1692 Tecumseh Road East late Sunday.
The fire broke out just after 9:30pm at the first floor laundromat.
Firefighters rescued 16 cats had to be rescued from the upper residential units. Eight survived and eight passed away.
The fire originated in the office of the laundramat. Damage is set at $450,000, and the cause is undetermined.
