North America’s very first mushroom deli opened today in Windsor’s Little Italy, and Great Lakes Mushrooms representative Denis Vidmar says the business is all about “delicious, nutritious, fun.”

The Mushroom Hub, located at 840 Erie Street, aims to get the community excited about health conscious food, while at the same time teaming up with local chefs to help “push the glory of mushrooms,” says Vidmar.

To help celebrate their grand opening, The Mushroom Hub enlisted the help of Butchers on the Block, one of Windsor’s newest food trucks, who had a mushroom-centric menu of soup, salad, and a sandwich on offer.

“We’re excited to work with a new local business and fresh, local mushrooms,” says Butchers on the Block culinary team member Brian John, “it’s important to get involved with other local businesses and help each other out.”

Windsorites are also excited to support a new community business, especially one with such a unique concept, “throw in mushrooms and I’m there,” says Helen Medel, who just made her first purchase at The Hub, a variety pack of fresh, organic ‘shrooms.

According to Denis “The Fungi Crier” Vidman, The Mushroom Hub will have even more to offer over the coming months, and he recommends following the deli on social media to keep up with new happenings.

Great Lakes Mushroom Farms provides The Hub with all of their fresh, local produce.

The Mushroom Hub is located at 840 Erie St, near the Parent Ave roundabout.

The Mushroom Hub prides itself on being able to find every single type of mushroom you’ve ever wanted to try.
