Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Windsor-Essex.
They say isolated thunderstorms will develop early this afternoon and continue into this evening. Heavy downpours are expected with these thunderstorms with rainfall amounts near 30 mm. The main concern is for regions that receive more than one thunderstorm, where rainfall amounts could exceed 50 mm in a short period of time.
Hail and strong wind gusts are also possible. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. They say be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
