The Ontario Provincial Police have responded to two different incidents today where children were locked in cars.
The first incident happened at 11:24am this morning. Leamington OPP responded to a Mersea Road 1 address near Leamington after a mother had contacted police saying she accidentally locked her keys in the car with a seven month old child inside.
The OPP arrived at the scene and broke a window rescuing the child. An ambulance was called as a precaution but the child suffered no injuries.
At 11:53am, the OPP received a call from a concerned citizen about a one and nine year old that were locked in a running car with the air conditioning on, unattended outside a Tecumseh business. Police investigation revealed that their mother went into a business, leaving the children as she didn’t want to wake up the one year old.
No injuries were reported and OPP Constable Aaron McPhail says the Children’s Aid Society has been contacted.
