If you’ve never been out for stir fry in Windsor, you have to try Downtown Windsor’s Chanosos. Famed for its reasonably priced pan-Asian food including stir frys, rice noodle salads, steaks and sushi, Chanosos is always packed and popular.
Chanosos calls their appetizers “share plates”, because let’s be honest, that’s what they’re for! From roasted garlic to seared beef tips, many of Chanosos’ share plates are Asian-style utilizing ingredients such as sesame, avocado and a variety of seafood. Be sure to try Chanosos’ Avocado Egg Rolls — avocado-filled egg rolls served with a sweet dipping sauce in a hollowed out avocado shell.
Aside from steak or sushi, Chanosos’ signature dish is their stir-fry. Start by choosing a protein, a type of noodle or rice, a sauce (including House, Sweet Bean, Hot Honey, Black Bean, Hawaiian, Teriyaki, Curry, Curry Coconut, Jamaican, Coconut Thai, Chef’s Choice, Peanut, Ginger, Oyster) and a “heat” (spice) between 1-10.
Chanosos makes everything t0-order and takes extreme care to put detail and flavour in everything. Expect to find signs on menus and in the restaurant that say “Everything is made to order. We appreciate your patience.”
For dessert, try tempura-battered, fried bananas…
…or classic tiramisu — espresso, liquer soaked lady fingers layered with marscarpone cream.
Chanosos is located at 255 Ouellette Avenue in Downtown Windsor. Along with it’s sister restaurant Oishii, the two-in-one-restaurant concept’s website can be found here.
