Working Smarter in the Cloud
What’s available for small business and how do I choose?
Generously funded by a Libro Credit Union Prosperity Grant, The TechBoost Program supports the growth and development of small businesses in Windsor-Essex by providing affordable training in information technology tools and products for business. TechBoost is an initiative of Hackforge, supported by the WindsorEssex Small Business Centre.

Skill Level: Beginner
Audience: Owners or employees of small businesses who want to learn more about managing their books with a cloud-based solution.

Pain Points:

Are you thinking of investing in an efficient accounting tool that let you spend more time on growing your business?
Are you tired of having your accounting system chained to one computer?
Are you working with a shoebox of receipts or a painful accounting system with out of date data or software?

Why Take this Workshop? Straight Outta the Cloud! Update your numbers, log your inventory, track your staff hours, pay your bills and so much more. Cloud systems are rapidly expanding and giving small business owners back their time to work ON their business and NOT IN their business.

Goal: By the end of this workshop, participants will understand what the tech world has to offer not only their accounting but apps and integrations that are game changers for small business owners. Participants will also be ready to take ScaleUP Financial, a program that equips entrepreneurs with the resources to tackle their small business bookkeeping offered through the Small Business Centre.

We’ll cover:

The pros and cons of various cloud-based accounting software solutions like Xero, Quickbooks
Sage One, Freshbooks, Wave, Square (POS), Plooto, Hubdoc, Receipt Bank and Wagepoint

A general discussion of POS vs. Merchant

Terminals (AKA Debit/Credit Terminals)

Materials: If you would like to follow along using a laptop computer during this workshop, please feel free to do so. A computer is not required, however.
