Golden Anniversary Celebration: 2025 Chinese New Year Gala
The Lunar New Year begins on January 29 and the Essex County Chinese Canadian Association (ECCCA) will be organizing community events to celebrate the most festive occasion on the Chinese calendar. Around the world, many countries and cultures observe and celebrate the lunar new year. In Chinese tradition, it is a time for families to be together after a long year of hard work and, in many instances, separation. During the Chinese New Year, the world’s largest annual human migration occurs as Chinese people travel far and wide, in China and the around the globe, to be with their loved ones. This will be the first opportunity to mark the occasion since the lifting of health restrictions and the ECCCA looks forward to celebrating the Year of the Snake with the Windsor-Essex community. The snake occupies the sixth position of the Chinese Zodiac and is associated with wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation. One of this year’s ECCCA CNY activities will include: Event: ECCCA’s Golden Anniversary: 2025 Chinese New Year Gala Date: Saturday, February 22, 2025: Location: Ciociaro Club of Windsor, 3745 North Talbot Road Time: 5:30 PM Reception 6:30 PM Opening Ceremony with the Dragon Dance The Essex County Chinese Canadian Association will be hosting the 2025 Chinese New Year Gala on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Ciociaro Club of Windsor. In this Year of the Snake, the ECCCA will be celebrating its 50th anniversary of the annual CNY Gala. Doors open at 5:30 PM and the programme begins at 6:30 PM. with dinner starting at 7:30 PM. The programme includes: · Dragon Dance to kick off the celebration · A 10-course East-Meets-West dinner · Cultural performances · Photo booth · Music and Dancing · Door Prizes, Raffle and Silent Auction Tickets are $150 per person (with a $50.00 tax deductible receipt available.) The Gala is the ECCCA’s major community fundraising event of the year with all proceeds going towards the Association’s operations and programmes.
