The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has issued a letter of instruction regarding temporary foreign workers amid the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Dr. Shanker Nesathurai, Acting Medical Officer of Health, issued the letter on Wednesday which instructs owners of businesses that employ temporary foreign workers to “immediately cancel, suspend, or postpone any arrangements made to facilitate entry or arrival of TFWs which were intended to arrive in the Health Unit between January 13, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. and February 1, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.”

The letter states failure to comply will result in fines of $750 for individuals and $1,000 for corporations, plus victim fine surcharges and any court administrative fees, up to a maximum of $10,000,000 per day for corporations, if convicted.
